Delicate electromechanical birds made from glass pipettes, wire, magnets, and needles flap and lurch overhead in response to a viewer's movement.
Exhibited in a former navel base, Fort Mason Center, the electrical conduit and wires from which the birds were suspended and the birds themselves echoed the exposed industrial infrastructure of the building along with the cries of the gulls outside.
Over the course of the exhibition, the needles dropped from the wings and the birds slowly self-destructed.
