Users control state of the art, research-grade microscopes and multimedia content to explore Microscopic life. The kiosk has two screens: one to present the live image from the microscope, and another for the interactive interpretive multimedia. The kiosk is located directly under a large window through which users can view the microscope they are controlling.
The exhibit is built in Macromedia Director communicating through a serial interface to the microscope hardware. The website is built in PHP.
