Global Positioning System was exhibited in the GenArts 1999 Emerge Exhibition. A single pin floating in a small dish of water is a compass, pointing north, and a mirror, reflecting the room and the viewer. The pin bobs and sways in reaction to air currents as visitors approach. The image on the head of the pin is captured by a video camera fitted with a macro lens and transmitted to a projector. The projector projects the live video onto the heads of 45,000 pins, stuck upright into a circular mat.
